What is Amazon Vine?

Have you ever scrolled down on a product listing and started to read the reviews on a product and noticed a banner next to the reviewer’s name?

People on Amazon who have a banner next to their name are part of an invite-only program on Amazon called Amazon Vine. Amazon Vine is a program that invites trustworthy reviewers to post their honest opinion about new and pre-released items. So if you see this badge next to a reviewer’s name, it is not a paid review, but they did get the product for free.

Within the last couple of months, there has been talk about some sellers creating Facebook groups and exchanging free products for reviews on their Amazon listing. This is not only going against Amazon’s TOS but it is also scamming real Amazon customers as well. Amazon Vine, is actually one thing you should look for when reading reviews, because that informs you that Amazon invited the customer to leave an honest review with nothing in exchange.

Now you may be wondering, if Amazon invited them, does that mean their review will always be positive? No. Amazon invites customers to leave honest reviews, whether it’s positive or negative. This doesn’t interfere with the customers personal shopping account at all.

The products that these people review through Amazon Vine are provided by publishers, labels, studios, manufacturers or any vendor that is participating in the program.

With that being said, there is no way someone can apply for Amazon Vine. Again, the program is for invite-only. But to better your chances of being picked, you could consistently write helpful reviews and develop a reputation for expertise in specific product categories. According to Amazon’s website, you are more likely to be invited to the program by doing so.
