Selling toys on Amazon is something a lot of people overlook but it’s one of the best selling categories on Amazon, especially during Q4 in the selling world. But what is Q4? It’s the last three months of the year which includes October, November and December. Many companies see a spike in business during the holidays which makes it the best time to sell a product like toys that are in high demand during the season.
Before selling toys on Amazon, make sure that the brand you are trying to sell allows their products to be resold on a website like Amazon. For example, companies like Lego, Disney, Nerf and VTech require you to be approved before selling their product or they can charge you a $1000 non-refundable fee for selling their products on Amazon.

When choosing toys or any product in general to sell on Amazon, you want to make sure you sell what is trending and not your favorite item or what you think will trend. Why? Selling toys on Amazon you may think is trending is not always the right approach. You are looking to make sales, so you want to sell something that is in high demand in the market right now. A downfall to sticking with what you think should be trending would include a loss in money due to inventory that is not selling and sitting in the warehouse. This could potentially cost you more than what you bought it for because not only is it not selling, but you are paying for storage fees for no reason. Using Amazon Scout will help you figure out which product is most searched at the moment, how many items have sold, how much they are sold for and how much competition there is.
Selling toys on Amazon during Q4 comes with a few requirements, but if you get everything squared away in time, you won’t run into any problems.

Make your first sale by August 18th
Make a total of 25 sales from August 1st to October 1st
Your product doesn’t have to be specific to the toys and games store
Maintain low cancel, late shipment and order defect rates

If you cannot meet the deadline mentioned above, you won’t be eligible for selling toys on Amazon during the holiday season. In order to sell in any category on Amazon for the holidays, you need sign up for an Amazon Seller account before the beginning of September. If you sign up any later than mid-September you won’t be able to sell on Amazon until January 1st, 2019.
If you are already a part of the FBA program then you don’t have much to worry about because Amazon takes care of everything during the busy holiday season. With FBM, on the other hand, it could be extremely stressful and intimidating to deal with staying on top of delivery times during the holidays. But if you follow the steps above and maintain a good standing account, you should do perfectly fine on your selling experience during the fourth quarter of the year.
